Started Analyzing Data
Monday, December 13, 2004
Now I'm starting to analyse the data using partly automated data analysing tools that I've created. I will be creating a few more automated tools as needed, as I go on analysing the data.
Officially Ended Data Collection

It is now officially ended collecting data. No more data is accepted as I'll be starting analysing the obtained data.

Sent survey requests to MORE NZ ISVs
Monday, October 4, 2004
Survey questionnaire to MORE New Zealand ISVs has been sent out since only 2 ISVs of 5 ISVs has been replied back with the survey responses.
Finished creating some Data Analyzing Assisting Software Tools
Wednesday, September 15, 2004
Some automated data analysing and presentation tools were created using ASP.NET. The finished tools can be found on: http://www.naymyoaung.name/thesisdataanalysis/

Initially, I created the tools using VBA and Microsoft Access DB, but it did not provide the necessary framework to create a more sophisticated graph generation and data analysis tools. That's why I re-created the tools in ASP.NET.
Finished Collecting the data using Automated Data Collection Software
Wednesday, August 4, 2004
I've now collected 7259 message threads with 34556 messages from 12 different newsgroups. This was completed over 3 days (not including night time) on 2.4 GHz with 1 GB of memory, on Windows XP. Further improvements on the data collection software can be made to increase the process.
Finished Creating Automated Data Collection Software
Saturday, July 31, 2004
Finished created the automated data collection tool. However, this tool has been created using VB.NET instead of VB6 as initially planned. The reason for that is that, .NET framework provided much richer class libraries for manipulating NNTP protocol and the Internet.
Started Prototying Automated Data Collection Software
Saturday, May 1, 2004
Started designing the software to automatically scan NNTP newsgroup message threads and analyse the number of replies they obtained, how fast the replies were obtained, whether or not the solution has been found and participation of official and volunteer support personnel.

This software will be created using VB6.
Started sending out survey requests to NZ ISVs
Sunday, April 4, 2004
Survey questionnaire for New Zealand ISVs has been sent out.
Started sending out survey requests to newsgroups
Saturday, March 13, 2004
Survey invitations were sent out by posting a message on each of the selected newsgroups from International ISVs.
