A Tour of the Internet and Web Development (IWD) Course Website

The course website uses the course building "shell" called WebCT (Web Course Tools). The homepage offers links to all the sections of the website and useful tools.

Updated sections are highlighted with a green flash (e.g. Calendar above).

The course is divided into 12 weeks of theory and practical notes and exercises. The theory notes are all on one page, and they have linked glossary entries which open in a small pop-uup window.

The practical notes are on different pages. The menus for the practicals are expandable

Note the colour-coding for each week of practicals.
Each week of practicals starts with Learning Outcomes.

Each week of practicals then has various pages with (colour-coded) boxes containing Information about each subject and Tasks to complete for each subject.

Each week of practicals ends with a Summary of what was learnt that week.

There are self-assessment questions for each week, both Practical and Theory. Again the menu is expandable.

The self-assessment questions are mainly multiple choice. They are designed to check your learning each week.

Once you have submitted your self-test for grading, the result is returned to you with useful feedback. The self-assessment questions make excellent revision for the exam.

You can search the whole glossary or the whole course.

There is much much more on the course website besides these key features.

All the course documents are on-line (e.g. past exam papers, assessments). Other useful content includes links to useful websites, to the gallery of past student websites, to lists of every HTML tag, etc.

There are many useful tools, (e.g. change your password, view self-assessment record).
